A Plea

February 15, 2010

USF is playing a must win game at home tomorrow against the Cincinnati Bearcats. This is most likely the biggest home game in a decade for the basketball team and they need your support. All I ask is this.

Go to the game. Bring a friend. Bring two friends. Have them bring a friend. Get tickets for 5.60 a piece at Ticketmaster. Bring your kids. Bring your kid’s friends. Bring that random kid on your street. They are all free. Just have them show up and boom they get in. Be loud. Wear Green. Do whatever you have to do to make the Sun Dome the place where teams hated going because it was so loud. Make the Bearcats hold team huddles at the free throw line because they can’t hear themselves. Bring out the ghosts of Death Row. I want all 200 Beef Studs there. I want all students there. It’s free, and you have nothing better to do on a Tuesday night.

This team is doing things that haven’t been done here in a long time. We have a player in Dominique Jones who is absolutely carrying this team on his back for the past two months. Gus Gilchrist is one of the most skilled big men in the country and is an absolute treat to watch on offense. Chris Howard has become a great leader and has improved immensely since his Freshman year.. Mike Mercer is good for one Oh My God dunks a night. Anthony Crater is the quickest guard that has been at USF in a long long time and is a bulldog on defense. Jarrid Famous is becoming dominant down on in the post. Toarlyn Fitzpatrick is coming into his own as a quality big man. Alex Rivas is playing with FREAKING RODS IN HIS LEGS and is still providing quality minutes for us.

I want to see a home game where there are ten thousand screaming USF fans, not 5 thousand USF  fans and 5 thousand Notre Dame or Syracuse fans.

This team needs you.

Be There.

Be Loud.

Own The Dome.

That is all.

Effin’ A! I’ll be parked in front of ESPNU tomorrow night and I better not see any dingy yellow chairs empty on my TV.

Also if there happen to be any Green Jacket donors reading this, please show up tomorrow. You spent enough money on those seats, it doesn’t make sense for you to not be there sitting in them. This isn’t like Radford or someone, we need you there.
